COMO, 24 October 2022 - Within the framework of preparation for the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Italy and Vietnam, the delegation of the Province of Lam Dong, led by the Hon.Tran Duc Quan, member of the Central Committee of the Party Communist of Viet Nam, Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam in Lam Dong, Chairman of the People's Council of Lam Dong Province, accompanied by the delegation was H.E. Duong Hai Hung, Ambassador of Vietnam to Italy had an institutional visit in Como.

Lam Dong province is considered the silk capital of Vietnam. Currently there is about 10,000 hectares of mulberry cultivation. The annual production of mulberry leaves is around 250,000 tons. The production of silkworms reaches about 15,000 tons, the production of silk thread reaches about 2,000 tons, for a production of about 6 million meters of all types of silk. The turnover of imports and exports reached about 173 million dollars, in the main markets in Asia, such as Japan, India, South Korea, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Pakistan. There are currently 32 companies in the silk production field.
Como is considered the capital of high-end silk in Italy and also in the world, covered 85% of Italian silk production and 70% of Europe's silk production.
Ambassador Duong Hai Hung and the delegation of the Lam Dong Province had an institutional visit with the Mayor of Como, Hon. Alessandro Rapinese, making the presentation of the territory and the investing opportunities between the two countries.
Thanks to the coordination of the Italy Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and the support of the Lecco Como Chamber of Commerce, the Delegation of the Province of Lam Dong was accompanied to visit Stamperia di Lipomo Spa, Institute ITIS PAOLO CARCANO, Sustainable Silk Textile Center.

Business Lunch with authorities and entrepreneurs in the sector at Antica Darsena restaurant - Palace Hotel
At the business lunch, the highest city authorities were present, such as Prefect of Como Andrea Polichetti, Mayor of Como Alessandro Rapinese, as well as Quaestor Leonardo Biagioli, the Vice President of the Como Lecco Chamber of Commerce Mr. Lorenzo Riva, the Trade Associations, the local companies in the textile/mechanical textile sector.
